Event Details

We are delighted that at last, after Covid has prevented us from seeing much of our Woodland Trust volunteers in Scotland, that we are able to run our first volunteer gathering since early 2020.

All registered Woodland Trust Scotland volunteers are welcome to attend.    Our gatherings are informal events where you have the chance to meet other volunteers and staff, at beautiful places, and hopefully learn something too as a bonus.

Join us at beautiful Glamis Castle where you will meet the head forester, who will tell us some stories about the trees on the estate and how the woodlands are managed.

We’ll also be hearing from Tom Reed, who manages the Ancient Tree Inventory and Ancient Tree Verifier volunteers, and from Judy Dowling and Clair McFarlan, our two lead verifier volunteers for Scotland.

We will spoil you on arrival with tea coffee and scones, and lunch will also be provided.

In the afternoon we will head out around the grounds to see some of the spectacular trees, including towering Giant Sequioas, as well as big native trees such as oaks and Scots pine.  If you haven’t tried it already, you can have a go on the day at recording trees for the Ancient Tree Inventory and our records from the day will be uploaded onto the website.

To book your place,  please email Kirsty Duncan:  kirstyduncan@woodlandtrust.org.uk, ideally by Friday 15th October at the very latest.

Once you have booked we will be in touch nearer the time with further details and to find out dietary requirements etc.

Best wishes,

Matilda and the Scotland Team
