New VDO for the North of England

A short message to introduce myself – I’m Vicky Entwistle, the new VDO for the North of England. Some of you will already know me as I’ve been the Engaging Communities Officer for Smithills Estate in Bolton for the last four years – so if you’ve volunteered there, or visited an event there, I’ve likely met you! Whilst at Smithills I ran a number of volunteer groups and oversaw the full volunteer programme there, so am familiar with Woodland Trust volunteering. Prior to working for the Woodland Trust, I was Volunteer Officer for the Canal and River Trust on the Peak Forest Canal.  I’m passionate about woods and wildlife… I’ve love ancient trees, and I’m a big advocate for using nature to improve wellbeing.

I’m still working my way through all the info about volunteering in the North – moving from 100 volunteers at Smithills to 750 in the North, and learning where all of our Northern groups are based. I’m really excited to be involved in such a busy and brilliant region! Please do get in touch if there’s something you need – you can contact me on vickyentwistle@woodlandtrust.org.uk.  I’ll be in touch in due course with dates for regional network events and hope to see some of you at those!

Vicky I wrote to you about how I can explain how trees purify and clkean water. Any ideas I can use?
