North England Volunteers of the Month
This month, we would like to recognise and extend a very special thanks to two of our North England volunteer team members.
Firstly Alan Wallace, Group Leader at our Castle Hills Wood. Alan has worked tirelessly over the last few years developing and building group activity at our Castle Hills site, near Consett. We would like to recognise Alan in particular for his support over recent months when we unfortunately experienced widlfires on the site.
Alan was an enormous and invaluable help on the ground and was instrumental in reporting issues to the site manager, calling and assisting the fire brigade, monitoring the site for fire outbreaks as well as documenting and recording the situation, communicating via local social media and talking to the public at the site. Site Manager Richard Wilson and other regional staff would like to say a huge thank you and recognise your significant support and assistance, Alan.
Secondly we would like to recognize and thank the efforts of volunteer photographer, David Rodway. Despite all the challenges David has been out actively photographing some of our woods in the NE, including Cow Close, Hagg Wood and Castle Hills Wood and has produced some fantastic images and video footage. David has also delivered a talk to our volunteers across the region about his role as a volunteer photographer. Rachel Lee, Media Library Manager would like to extend a special thanks to David for his efforts and support. Thanks David, your time and dedication have been very much appreciated!
