2021 Covid-19 Update
Happy New Year to you all.
As we start 2021, we find that the lockdown restrictions have increased in most areas with most countries reinforcing the ‘Stay at home’ message and Wales continuing with Tier 4 guidance. Therefore, all group activity is now halted across the UK.
Volunteering activity can continue only in specific circumstances:
- If the volunteering role is considered essential to assist us in maintaining our estate and fulfilling organisational aims. In these cases volunteer roles can continue either individually or in pairs if the local guidance allows you to meet one other person or with members of your household or support bubble.
- If the volunteering activity can be carried out as part of your daily exercise.
- If the volunteering role can be carried out at home.
The decision of whether volunteering roles are essential or not is still a local decision, please phone or text your site or volunteer manager to discuss this. No volunteer role should take you away from your local area and travelling guidance rules with regards to lockdown in your area should be adhered to. We would ask that you do not put yourself at risk in anyway and that you err on the side of caution if considering whether you should continue activity or not. We more than understand if you do not feel able to carry out your role at this time. The safety of your family, friends and yourself should of course be your priority.
In all circumstances, please continue to check government updates and what these mean for local and/ or country-wide restrictions. They are subject to change at short notice. If there is any doubt, we would prefer you postpone your activities and stay safe. Please continue to check Whittle for further updates.
Thank you for your consideration of the above and for your continued support for the Woodland Trust.
Wishing you a Happy and Safe New Year.
