Back in the Woods at Skipton..
It’s been such a strange year this year. I signed up to volunteer in Skipton Castle Woods in March 2020 along with my mum but due to the pandemic we had to wait until November to get our boots muddy. Six of us were finally able to meet for a socially distanced litter pick on a thankfully rainless day!
Knowing we were making a difference not only visually but also environmentally to the wood was so fun and rewarding. We split into pairs and mum and I competed on who could collect the most. Our biggest haul was a bread crate and water drum, sadly there were far too many dog waste bags abandoned but we got to explore parts of the wood that we’ve never been in before and the knowledge of a job well done at the end was so satisfying. A great start to the Woodland Trust volunteering journey!
