Northern Ireland Estate update

An update from our Site Manager Rosie…

A lot of work has taken place across the Northern Ireland estate during 2020 and below are just a few to keep you up to date.

Glasswater Wood

A new place to explore following the extension
of Glasswater Wood, follow the old cart track
under veteran oaks, newly created wildlife

pond and pocket meadows.

The Drum

Path repairs to get you over the
bouncing bog to ponds and
young hazel woodland below.

Ash dieback

Nearly all sites in the estate have now been surveyed, thanks to you for sending in any surveys and data on the sites you walk. Now making a start on some of the sites where dieback is prevalent in areas of safety concern e.g. roadsides and along popular path routes.

Message to my volunteers

“Thank you to all my woodland wardens and relief wardens who kept going and visiting when they could. As you know your reports and feedback help me and my contractors greatly. I hope the woods have been a haven for you as much as they have for me in these hard, mad and sometimes dark times.” Rosie
