Amphitheatre installed at Brackfield Wood
Just last month we saw the final installment completed within our First World War Centenary Wood, Brackfield Wood in the Faughan Valley.
The Amphitheatre is a curved structure that stretches 250 meters long with four tiers of seats topped with wooden seating made from Western Red Cedar. The structure will seat in the region of 150 people (less due to social distancing) and is faced with natural rough stone from a local quarry in Claudy.
The addition of the amphitheatre encourages the local community and schools to use the space for outdoor learning and performances that they can enjoy in the peaceful and beautiful setting of Brackfield Wood.
Brackfield Wood is located within the Faughan Valley where we currently have a large scale landscape project running. The project which is funded by the National Heritage Lottery Fund is working to connect fragments of woodland for the benefit of people, wildlife and climate.
