We’re appearing on Countryfile

Look out for our very own Lineover Wood appearing on Countryfile in November 2020. The episode focuses on the ‘healing countryside’ something which I think many of us agree on at the moment. Local Site manager Joe Middleton recently hosted Ellie Harrison and the Countryfile crew in the Cotswolds wood for a day of forest bathing, Qigong and mindfulness in nature.
As always requests for filming locations always come with a quick turnaround, but the South West estate and national press teams were keen to accommodate and find a site where Ellie could walk through and ‘take in’ nature. Lineover was the perfect choice, on the edge of the Cotswold escarpment, and with fantastic views of Cheltenham, this SSSI PAWs site features huge ancient beech trees, perfect for hugging and a wealth of rare and unusual plants like lily-of-the-valley, angular Solomon’s seal and Autumn crocus.
The lime and oak canopy is an outstanding example of the ancient coppice woodland which was once widespread in the Cotswolds. Lineover was partly planted with conifers by a water company back in the 70s, the Trust took it on in the 1990s and with the help of an active and enthusiastic volunteer group, have been restoring it ever since.
The Countryfile team captured this special landscape both from the ground and using a drone – while Ellie bathed in the forest and practiced the ancient Chinese healing art of Qigong with Karen Soo our resident Qigong instructor.
