Safety guidance for group volunteering during the COVID-19 Pandemic

News should be filtering through that we have given the green light for some volunteering group activity to resume post the COVID-19 shutdown. You will be hearing from your Site Manager or Volunteering Development Officer shortly with more information on how and where this can safely begin again. Every group is different and there is a lot of work going on behind the scenes to create new safe ways of working to allow activity to recommence in the safest way possible so we ask for your patience with these local communications. 


I know this ‘green light’ will be music to many peoples ears and we are very much aware that the pause of volunteering activity has had an impact on many. There have been a whole host of things we have had to consider to ensure the safety of of groups when returning to their woodlands. As as you know the safety of our volunteers and the general public is of utmost importance to us.

COVID-19 Risk Assessment addition:


Attached is a new Safety guidance document for group volunteering which we ask you to read and follow when planning or undertaking any group based volunteering activity and a COVID-19 Risk Assessment addition which must be followed in addition to any existing activity and site risk assessments.
