Heritage open days get under way
With so many events cancelled or postponed at present, it’s great news that the national Heritage Open Days are still going ahead this year; albeit in a very different format.
As part of Lincolnshire’s Heritage Open Days activity, the ‘Reconnecting Grantham to its historic landscape project’ are inviting people to explore Londonthorpe Woods and Bellmount with a new self-led, guided history walk.
The walk starts at Londonthorpe Woods car park, Five Gates Lane, Grantham, NG31 6SL
We’ve installed a temporary way-marked route on site or you can download the free GoExplore Lincolnshire walking app https://activelincolnshire.com/getactive/goexplore-lincolnshire/ to guide you. You’ll find our walk under: Walks – South Kesteven – Routes.
Heritage Open Day history walk:
Meet characters from the past as we guide you through the historic landscape of Londonthorpe Woods and Bellmount. Experience the spectacular views from the foot of Bellmount Tower and learn about the sites’ fascinating history.
Mostly grassy or gravel paths. A number of steep and uneven sections. Kissing gates and numerous stiles along the route.
