Virtual Volunteer Training and Events
Over the last few months many of us have been forced by circumstance to adapt and respond to the rapidly changing situations around us, coming up with innovative solutions to the challenges we have faced. Here at the Woodland Trust within the world of volunteering this has been no exception.
Such a large part of the Volunteer Development Officer role (and by a long way the most enjoyable!) are the opportunities we get to meet with you all at the many volunteer events and activities we organise across the UK each year. We know from our event feedback that many of you value the opportunity to meet other volunteers and staff at these events, hearing more about our work in general and about the variety of volunteer roles. They helped you to feel connected to the work of the Woodland Trust and to feel part of the team. We miss seeing you all and have been looking at alternative solutions to how we deliver our training and events to fit in with current circumstances, and as so often happens, with challenges come new opportunities.
We are currently as a team exploring opportunities to expand and develop interactive training via platforms such as zoom and the delivery of virtual events as an alternative to our usual volunteer gatherings and network events. This is very much in the beginning stages of development, but we wanted to reassure you we are busy planning and developing new opportunities for our volunteers to interact and share and learn new skills that react to the new world we find ourselves in. We will, of course, keep you informed of developments once our new digital events go live, so watch this space!
