Tring Park ancient tree recording day – you’re invited!

On Saturday 21st March we are running an ancient tree recording day at Tring Park. Come along and learn how to identify ancient and veteran trees, discover the key features, what needs to be recorded and equipment needed.
Our aim is to record ancient and veteran trees on the Ancient Tree Inventory (ATI) which helps us to map where our oldest and most important trees in the UK are, with the ultimate aim to preserve our valuable tree heritage!
During this session you’ll learn how to record ancient trees. After the event you may wish to start adding records of your own onto the AT too! Collecting records can be at your own pace, so you might decide to go out at particular times with the specific aim to record trees, or you may spot some ancient trees whilst out on a walk, making a note of any trees you see along the way.
The recording day will be delivered by David Alderman, who is our head ancient tree verifier for the Woodland Trust and Director of the Tree Register (TROBI). David has been contributing to the ATI since the project started and is kindly sharing his wealth of experience and his time with us to run the day.

You’ll need to bring along a packed lunch and a drink.
