It’s all about the trees…..

2020 may be Scotland’s Year of Coasts and Waters, but for some it will be another joyful year of trees!

All this week the BBC radio 4 programme PM (broadcast at 5 pm) is featuring tree planting in the UK and the programme team intends to make trees and tree-related news a theme of the whole year! The first segments have been interesting and are available to listen to on-line for about a month after broadcast.

On Monday 6th January, an eight minute piece follows the conversation between Chris Packham and PM presenter Evan Davis as they walk in the New Forest. You can listen again to the programme on the BBC website/BBC Sounds https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b006qskw/episodes/player. The segment starts around 22.49 minutes in.

On Tuesday 7th January, PM included a seven minute segment featuring Woodland Trust CE Darren Moorcroft and WT Regional External Affairs Director for SE (apologies if I’ve not got that correct), Bridget Fox. This piece addresses the tree planting targets which formed part of pre-election promises from various political parties, and includes a short interview with Stuart Goodall of Confor (The Confederation of Forest Industries UK). The piece starts about 26.36 minutes in, use the same url as given above.

I’ve no idea what the remaining programmes this week will bring but I wondered if others are listening too??
