Skipton Castle Woods – An ancient woodland all a-glow.
Skipton’s sold out sixth annual lantern walk took place on Saturday attended by 600 walkers.
The event generated £3,000 of ticket sales and £750.00 in local business sponsorship and feedback cards from visitors were rated as ‘excellent’ overall.
Starting at Skipton Castle which opened especially for the start of the walk, visitors were greeted by Lady Alice De Romille, the First Lady of Medieval Skipton and The Story Teller, who told tales of the Lantern Maker of Skipton Castle Woods.
In the woodland, visitors were greeted by The Poacher, John the Woodsman, The Hunter and the Magical Dancing Tree as well as voice recordings of The Hornbeam Tree, The Lady of Eller Beck and The Mill worker. The camp fire did a roaring trade (with donation buckets) in toasted marshmallows with storytelling.
Thank you to all the staff and amazing volunteers who worked to support this event. More images can be found on Facebook – Woodland Trust Skipton Castle Woods.
