Step replacement at Nidd Gorge

On a perfect autumn day in the Nidd Gorge we had the first of our  two October sessions.  Parking by Burgess Bridge on the Scotton side of the wood we all lugged and barrowed the tools and the materials through the mud and water to the work site.  With 8 volunteers the morning was split into 3 sessions.  Kat and Jill cleared the holly that was over growing a popular permissive path going from the worksite back towards Burgess Bridge.  Sandra and Charlotte finished the final section of clearance on the PROW running across the top of the South Bank.  Andy, Tony, Rebecca and Sam all tackled the ongoing step replacement works.  After lunch everybody got to work on the steps with differing teams levelling, constructing and removing the old steps.

The next task is scheduled for the 31st October where we will (finally) complete this section of steps.  We will also remove the bench just upslope that is looking a bit worse for wear.

Thanks everyone for their hard work!
