Coppicing Day at Gorse Covert Mounds
Many thanks to Daniela, Stephen, Mark, Phil and Natasha for coming out coppicing at our Gorse Covert Mounds site last weekend. It was a brave decision to come out given the weather, but the rain held off mostly and it was really quite pleasant for working. We managed to finish our planned work by 1pm.
The task was to clear some of the bushes alongside one of our main tracks opening up the lane to more air flow, improving the views into the woods and keeping the woods from encroaching over the track.
In the afternoon Jill worked hard to rediscover our gorse bushes at the site entrance, hopefully tidying this up a little before the winter and giving our gorse plants a head start over the brambles in the spring.
