Somerset and Dorset volunteer get together
On Saturday 7th September volunteers from Somerset and Dorset met for a volunteer get together at Duncliffe wood. We were lucky with the weather and had glorious sunshine.
We started off with a walk around the wood lead by Sarah the site manager who talked about track works PAWS restoration and ash dieback. Derek one of our volunteers also spoke about how he is looking for evidence of dormice in Duncliffe and his butterfly transact which he does in the wood, and that he has recorded over 25 butterfly species in the wood. We were lucky enough to spot a few butterflies whilst on our walk,
After our walk we then went onto The Crown Inn for some very tasty homemade soup and a role and a catch up with regionals staff, Ross Kennerley South West Regional Director and Jane Craven Engagement and Communications Manager. The Beacon Hill brought along their brilliant display boards which shows the huge variety of work that goes on in our woods.
