750 at the Royal Lancs
…..that’s the number of hazel, oak and birch saplings we handed out to visitors to the Royal Lancashire Show over the weekend. We got off to a slow start on Friday not helped by the unseasonal driving rain and subsequent lack of visitors. However numbers picked up over the weekend with a flourish yesterday when the rain stopped and the sun came out (briefly!) It’s the first time we have attended this show and we were keen to replicate our Yorkshire success, plenty of food for thought as we plan for 2020.
Hannah met some enthusiastic landowners keen to tree plant at scale and our MDO Allan signed up 6 new members under the challenging conditions. Freddie also popped in for a visit!
A special thanks to our volunteers from Smithills – Doug, Pam, Keith and Dave who braved the elements, kept smiling and encouraged people to visit Smithills and get involved with the volunteer group.
