South West Volunteer Thank you Event

On Saturday 1st June the South West region held their volunteer thank you event during volunteers week at the beautiful National Trust Property Fyne Court, Broomfield, Somerset.

The morning was coffee and a catch up with what was going on both regionally and nationally we had talks and presentations from Stan Abbot Estate Manager South West, Jane Craven Engagement & Communications Manager South West, Paul Taylor National Volunteer manager, Sarah Shorley Programme Delivery lead on tree charter.

We then had lunch and a chance for everyone to have a catch up and talk to other volunteers and staff.

In the afternoon we changed our activity which was due to be a guided walk as one of our volunteers asked if we would like him to bring his tree listening kit along so that we could all have a listen to the inside of a tree. I naturally jumped at the chance.

Listening to the inside of a tree was a great experience, you can hear the water moving up the tree and insects tapping, thank you so much John for giving everyone such a memorable opportunity.

We then went for a different than planned walk around Fyne Court.

Thank you to everyone who came along and thank you to each and every one of our volunteers, your passion, dedication, knowledge is truly inspirational.
