Lapwings make themselves at home at Langley Vale!
Tree-mendous news! We are delighted to report we have our first ringed Lapwing chicks at Langley Vale Wood!
A local bird monitoring and ringing group announced last week that they were able to find and ring three chicks after four chicks were observed at the nest site on the previous evening. Lead volunteer, Keith, had eyes on a sitting female Tuesday morning and concluded that she was still on eggs. A further nest has been located with four eggs in and another lead volunteer, David, also observed a possible fourth sitting female!
Thanks for all the good observations and help so far from the volunteer Bird Monitoring group at Langley Vale and fingers crossed we can add more to our total!
Thanks also to Keith for sharing this update. It’s a wonderful example of the impact that the work at our woods is having on local wildlife – we are all over the moon! Keep your eyes peeled for pictures when we have them! If you have any special sightings to share from woods in your region, please do let Anna Claxton know: firstname.lastname@example.org
