VisitEngland show the love for Heartwood
Heartwood Forest has been an accredited VisitEngland Quality Assured Visitor Attraction since 2016, and this year saw another visit from the assessor to look at improvements made since then, and whether the site would remain an accredited attraction in the scheme…
…Well, there was never any doubt that Heartwood would keep its accreditation, but could we improve on our previous score of 74%?
Of course we could! This year’s visit took place at the end of March and we received the final report in April. We achieved a massive score of 84% making Heartwood Forest the highest-scoring Woodland Trust site in the scheme.
The new car park and welcome hub proved very popular with the assessor, who commented “The resurfaced car park is excellent in layout, quality of design and appearance, and the welcome and interpretation panels at the ‘Welcome Hub’, installed in 2017, combined with the general entrance and car park signage scheme, create a very good first impression and will be particularly useful in orienting first-time visitors.”
Huge congratulations to the Heartwood team, who worked hard to ensure that the recommendations from the previous assessment were put into action. It has certainly paid off. Heartwood is a delightful place to visit – if you haven’t been yet, get it on your to-do list.
