Great Fen guided walk for volunteers on 9th June: book on today!
You are invited to this volunteer thank you event taking place on Sunday 9th June 2019 at the Great Fen from 1.30pm – 4.30pm.
Taking place just after National Volunteers’ week, we’ve organised this event to celebrate all that is volunteering at the Woodland Trust and to thank you for all that you do for us!
We’ve organised a guided walk at glorious Woodwalton Fen, which will be led by our friends at the Wildlife Trust BCN. The ambitious Great Fen project is a 50 year scheme which focuses on restoring the area to the wetlands that once dominated this landscape. Come along and learn about the project, discover the diverse wildlife species that live in the area, and significantly, the tree species that have thrived on this unique site. Ramsey Heights and Woodwalton Fen are just two small parts of the wider Great Fen project area; you will be able to find out more throughout the afternoon.
We’ll be meeting at the Ramsey Heights Countryside classroom and then depart for Woodwalton Fen, which is a short 10min walk away.
Following the walk, refreshments will be served back at the Ramsey Heights Countryside Classroom at 4.30pm.
