Body Shop donates £159K
For every in-store transaction and At Home order in winter 2018, The Body Shop donated 1.8p to be evenly split between the Woodland Trust and World Land Trust.
We received a total of £159,082.50, which exceeded the £150,000 minimum guaranteed by The Body Shop.
This funding will be used to restore and connect nearly half a million square metres of woodland in the Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on the England-Wales border.
The project aims to connect the woods of the Wye Valley with the nearby Forest of Dean to create one of the largest woodland ecosystems in England. Our work on the ground will include the restoration of ancient woodland sites, promoting natural regeneration and the creation of small woodland and hedgerows to create a natural wildlife corridor between the two areas.
Rare and threatened wildlife that could benefit includes dormice, hedgehogs, lesser spotted woodpeckers, pied flycatchers and goshawks. There are plans to reintroduce pine martens to the area in the near future too.
