Save the dates – Scotland volunteering conference and gatherings 2019
This year we are delighted to be holding our first ever Woodland Trust Volunteering Scotland Conference!
It’s to be held on Saturday 28th September at the Birnam Institute in Birnam, Perthshire.
On the day there’ll be a mix of talks and indoor and outdoor workshops…..details to be confirmed but think chocolate making, tree ID and photography plus much more!! As well as lunch there will be an evening dinner with a keynote speaker. Then for those that feel like staying for another day we’ll be going for a walk tree-y walk somewhere, details tbc. This is our first event on this scale in Scotland and we really hope that you can come!
As well as the conference there will be two gatherings and one event to celebrate National Volunteers Week, as follows:
- Saturday 4th May – Either Pressmennan Wood or Butterdean Wood, both in East Lothian, with, hopefully visits to ancient yew trees, and with a theme of protecting woods under threat and the volunteer role that supports this work
- 1st week in June – event to be confirmed, but like last year’s at Drummond Castle, likely to an ancient tree hunt with a picnic, and somewhere beautiful!
- Saturday 15th June – Portmoak Moss Woodland Trust site in Fife, with a theme of biodiversity, delivered by relevant staff and members of the Portmoak Community Woodland Group
Looking forward to seeing familiar and new faces at these events! Please do put these dates into your diaries and calendars!
