Skipton Castle Woods Volunteer Update – Jan 2019
I hope you all had a wonderful break over Christmas and New Year
The next task day get together for our practical volunteers for Skipton Castle woods is to be Sat 9th Feb – 11am-3pm. This will include
- A site visit for 2019 planning 11am -1.pm. This is for both general maintenance and walling.
- Lunch on site 1pm-1.30pm (provided)
- Dry stone wall session 1.30pm – 3pm.
There will be a focus on a survey (and marking) of the wall from the Bailey entrance and the steps and boundary wall on the North side of the woodland near the A road and an outline plan/timescale. We will meet at the entrance to Skipton Castle Car Park on Sat 9th at 11am.
Funding success – As mentioned in our Facebook group, we have successfully applied for funding for the walling work and refurb of the Forest School Area from Yorventure – a landfill tax charity. This means we have funds for walling material and extra tutor support if needed. Yorventure have just closed their scheme and we are the last to benefit from their funding which is great news for us.
Events – We have a 4 sheet poster advertising our year’s events going into the High Street Car Park in Skipton this week. This will be followed by a new version for the sign in the woodland. The events will be added to Facebook and the website over the next two weeks. The new leaflet with this year’s events is in the garage
