Volunteer of the Year – A spectacular event!
On Sunday 4th November we hosted the annual Woodland Trust Volunteer of the Year awards and the event was spectacular!
Thank you to everyone who joined us, it was a fantastic event showcasing the wonderful work of volunteers across our organisation. All nominees were invited to a drinks reception and three course meal followed by the presentation of the awards by our Chair, Baroness Barbara Young of Old Scone. We had an impressive 100 nominations from across the UK representing a wide range of roles and locations. Each award category had three shortlisted volunteers and one winner which were decided on by the Woodland Trust Directors.
The location was Kelham Hall & Country Park, a beautiful George Gilbert Scott designed Victorian stately home located in the Trent valley in Nottinghamshire which nestles within 44 acres of stunning parkland. We negotiated a great deal including free room hire, discounted catering and decorations whilst not compromising on any quality. The awards were made from a beautiful Yew log that was found in Orton Longueville wood in Lincolnshire and included the grid reference of where the tree once grew.
A local company Creative Minds (also creators of Whittle!) very kindly volunteered to produce 23 videos surrounding the awards which really brought the event and nominations to life, we’d like to say a huge thank you to them for the hours and effort they put into this project for us.
If you joined us on Sunday I really hope that you enjoyed the event and had a safe journey home. Sorry I didn’t have time to say hello to you all!
