NI volunteers enjoy morning of mushroom hunting

Volunteers got together yesterday (24 October) to enjoy a walk through Drumnaph Wood in Maghera on the hunt for mushrooms.  The group led by Forage expert Dermot Hughes of Forage Ireland took to the woods to learn all about mushrooms and how to identify which are edible and which ones to leave well alone!

The walk was part of one of the regular volunteer network events run throughout the year where volunteers can come together and meet one another, enjoy a walk or an activity on site and get to know one another a little better over a bite of lunch.  It was safe to say after some of the mushrooms we found on site we decided not to have them on the menu!

Thanks to all of our volunteers who came along and made yesterday really enjoyable and to Dermot for leading the group.

Look forward to seeing you all at our next networking event on Thursday 8th November at Kilcooley Wood, if you haven’t already registered and you would like to attend please email lynseynixon@woodlandtrust.org.uk
