Body Shop partnership launched!
As part of the cosmetic retailer’s Enchanted by Nature Christmas campaign, a 1.8p donation from every in-store transaction will be evenly split between the Woodland Trust and the World Land Trust throughout November and December 2018, as well as from every order placed with The Body Shop At Home during October to December 2018.
The Body Shop has guaranteed a minimum of £150,000 will be donated to the Woodland Trust and this money will be used to help us restore and connect nearly half a million square metres of woodland in the Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on the England-Wales border.
The project aims to connect the woods of the Wye Valley with the nearby Forest of Dean to create one of the largest woodland ecosystems in England. Our work on the ground will include the restoration of ancient woodland sites, promoting natural regeneration and the creation of small woodland and hedgerows to create a natural wildlife corridor between the two areas.
Our partnership will be part of the Body Shop’s World Bio-Bridges Mission, which aims to “re-wild the world” by protecting and regenerating 75 million square metres of habitat and building 10 ‘bio-bridge’ wildlife corridors by 2020.
The wildlife found in the woods of the Wye Valley includes threatened species such as the dormouse, hedgehog, lesser spotted woodpecker and pied flycatcher, as well as the rare goshawk. There are also plans to reintroduce pine martens to the Forest of Dean in the near future.
The donations made towards the World Land Trust will help fund the creation of a bio-bridge in Armenia, home to the endangered Caucasian leopard.
The Body Shop will be hosting an enchanted forest-themed pop-up wellbeing event in London on the weekend of 3-4 November.
