New volunteering opportunities on offer in the Faughan Valley

Back in June 2018 the Woodland Trust secured Heritage lottery Funding to complete the first phase of a project set to revitalise the Faughan valley landscape, on the outskirts of Derry/Londonderry.  The Faughan Valley runs from the foothills of the Sperrin Mountains along the beautiful River Faughan to the outskirts of the city.  Covering some 80 square miles, it has been identified as an area of strategic importance thanks to some precious natural features.

To kick start the work in the Valley we are looking for volunteers to join us!

There are two different types of volunteer role available just click on the link below for more information on what the volunteer role involves.

Conservation Volunteer  – As a Conservation Volunteer you could get involved with anything from woodland maintenance to wildflower seed collection.

Environment Monitor – As an Environment Monitor you will be helping to conserve the natural beauty of the Faughan Valley by assisting the project team with the practical management of the landscape.

You can apply to become a volunteer by clicking on the above links and following the instructions on our website.

If you would like more information on the project or the volunteer opportunities available in the Faughan Valley please email Bronagh Gallagher at BronaghGallagher@woodlandtrust.org.uk
