Meet Bronagh Gallagher – New Project Officer Faughan Valley NI
My name is Bronagh Gallager and I recently joined the Woodland Trust team at the beginning of September as Project Officer for the very exciting Faughan Valley Treescapes project. My aim will be to engage and involve schools, communities and volunteers from Derry~Londonderry and the surrounding area with the development plans for the wonderful woodlands in the Faughan Valley.
I studied English Literature and History at University College Dublin and undertook an MA in Medieval History at Queen’s University Belfast. From my studies I was inspired to pursue a career in the heritage and museum sector. Since graduating in 2014, I have been lucky enough to have worked at various historic sites around the UK engaging audiences and working with volunteers.
I have always loved being outdoors and learning about our natural heritage, landscape and wildlife and my hobbies include hill-walking and sheepdog trialling. I have further developed my interest in the outdoors by volunteering within similar conservation charities such as the National Trust and the Wildlife Trust. Socially, I enjoy Salsa dancing and making attempts at rock-climbing!
I am really excited to be given this opportunity to meet with people from all ages and backgrounds in Northern Ireland and to connect with them to help preserve and develop our precious woodlands, making them areas where current and future generations will enjoy spending time.
Having been a volunteer myself and having worked primarily with volunteers in my most recent job I am particularly excited to meet you all. In the meantime if you would like to get in touch with me please email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 07584595423.
