Butterflies a Plenty at Gorse Covert Mounds
Volunteers have been out continuing with the ongoing butterfly and dragon fly monitoring at our Gorse Covert mounds site, in Birchwood, near Warrington. And wildlife monitors have not been disappointed….
The latest meeting this weekend saw volunteers recording 9 butterfly species including over 50 Common Blue (some mating), and a locally rare Small Copper. they also saw 7 dragonfly / damselfly species including great poses from a Southern and a Migrant Hawker.
The surveying will continue throughout the summer months and provides invaluable useful information about wildlife presence and abundance on site, helping to inform future management.
Many thanks to everyone who has been involved
