Tree of The Year Nominations Open

Nominations are open for the 2018 Tree of the Year competitions in England, Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland.

We are looking for trees with a story. They could be magnificent specimens, strange rarities, historically connected or simply much loved by the people around them.  If you know of one please nominate it using the form which can be found here

As well as putting each country’s best trees on the map, the awards –  supported by players of People’s Postcode Lottery – offer a £1,000 tree care award for each winning tree. The money can be used to arrange a ‘Tree-LC’ health check from a qualified arboriculturalist, provide interpretation or educational materials or simply just hold a celebratory event in honour of the tree.

Any individual, group or organisation can nominate a tree and at the time of writing over 20 trees have been nominated already.

The deadline is 9 am on August 6 so don’t delay.

The entries will then be shortlisted by a panel of independent experts before facing the public vote later in the year.
