Sunshine, brashing saws, great conversation & a walk round Kinclaven Bluebell Wood
Mix together 14 volunteers, great conversation, fantastic local food, sunshine, a H&S talk, a guided walk in Kinclaven Bluebell Woods, a Risk Assessment role play workshop, tree pruning training and fun on a swing and you have the recipe for a perfect day. Saturday 23rd June was our 3rd volunteer networking event in bonny Scotland!
Nick Hall, the Trust’s Health, Safety and Environment Manager came up from Grantham to run the H&S part of this event. Nick can make Health and Safety entertaining and had us all laughing as well as hitting home with the serious messages about keeping volunteering safe.
Jill Aitken, Site Manager, gave us a talk about life as a Site Manager and also a fascinating guided walk of the woods , sharing her plans for its conservation along the way!
Fred Conacher, Forester and and Tree Officer for Angus Council, gave us an entertaining tree pruning demo!
Last but not least we had fun on the rope swing!!
There are still spaces on our remaining events in Scotland this year. The next one is 8th September. I hope to see you there!
