Glencharnoch paths get some tlc
On Saturday 9th June, Glencharnoch Wood Woodland Wardens Roy Brown and Michelle Green and Site Manager Ross Watson, ran a small work party to continue the improvements on the paths in this beautiful Caledonian pine forest in the Cairngorms.
20 tons of material, transported into the back of the wood using a Unimog, was distributed along boggy and rooty sections of the path to keep it safe and dry for the many users of our wood. The tools were provided by the Cairngorms National Park Authority, who hold a store to facilitate work parties such as this.

This looks great! We were doing the same thing on the same day in Canal Wood, Northern Ireland, but unfortunately we didn’t have a Unimog to help.

Well done Heather! Do you have nice photos of your pathworks to post on Whittle?

Only general work party photos at the moment, but when we have finished our (short) bunded path I’ll be sure to send in some pics. We only have 2 tonnes of quarry dust to move. They think big in Scotland!

Can’t wait to hear more from your group too Heather 🙂

Fantastic..and it’s often the smaller jobs that are harder work as you don’t have the big tools as you say!

It’s amazing what a group of recycled teenagers can achieve! It might be something to do with the supply of wheaten bread and ginger cake on site….

Now you’re making me hungry…I LOVE wheaten loaf!!

I’ve just googled unimog – what a machine (and lovely word)! Sounds extreme for Glencharnoch right enough. Perhaps is was a pimped-up gator? Photos next time Roy & Michelle. And well done. Looks like hard work.
