Canal Wood enjoys first flowering of Bluebell bulbs

Woodland working group members from Canal Wood are seeing the first flower of Bluebells planted in November 2017.  The planting was made possible by funding from Live Here Love Here – Keep Northern Ireland Beautiful.

Canal woodland working group member, Heather Crawford applied for the funding enabling the group to host a Bluebell planting day open to the public back in November 2017.

23 people came along to plant the bulbs which has led to a beautiful carpet across the woodland.

Canal woodland working group are currently looking for volunteers to join their work parties.  The group help with the maintenance and restoration of the woods including tasks such as scrub clearing, planting and coppicing. If you would like to get involved please contact lynseynixon@woodlandtrust.org.uk
