An Ode to Woodland Trust Volunteers
For Woodland Trust volunteers – a poetic memento
We work the seasons – see the seasons work we pull out stuff and talk of greener times the planting of the hawthorn rips the shirts we settle in to earth’s mud in the grime
We pull out stuff and talk of greener times we build and paint and measure up the size that’s needed for the path that finds the hide that shades among the willow (and the flies!)
Though planting of the hawthorn rips the shirts the watching and the seeing glows up bright what season took before now shows her burst our teams work winter’s dark and spring’s delight
We settle in to earth’s mud and the grime blog and tweet and talk until we’re blue on facebook and the digi-sphere we’ve dined showing what we’ve done and what’s to do
We pull out stuff and talk of greener times we’ve got a lot to say – the clock ticks fast trees must not be memories left so far behind so our volunteers keep working to the last
Our teams work winter’s dark and spring’s delight to watch and know the seeing glows
