Tree Poppers and Bog Squad in action!

On Sunday 29th April, members of the Woodland Trust Portmoak Moss volunteer Woodland Working Group joined forces with Butterfly Conservation Scotland’s Bog Squad, to remove rejenerating birch from the highly biodiverse bog area of Portmoak Moss.

There was a great turnout and removing encroaching birch will help to maintain populations of invertbrates such as damselflies, dragonflies and rare butterflies at this beautiful Woodland Trust wetland, which is next to Loch Leven and our beautiful Kilmagad Wood.  The volunteers used a technique called tree popping, using a special tool that makes removing trees easy.
