Hedley Hall woodland day

Volunteers of the Hedley Hall Woodland Group gathered at the Hedley Hall Wood, near Gateshead for a coppicing day in the glorious sunshine. The wood is an attractive mosaic of ancient woodland, glade and peat bog including Ridley Gill, a 9-hectare ancient woodland Site of Specific Scientific Interest (SSSI). Over a dozen local volunteers gave up their day, coming together to help with woodland management on the site. The group will be meeting regularly throughout the winter months, carrying out woodland management work in partnership with Site manager, Richard Wilson. If you would like to come along and take part please check the recruitment page on the Woodland Trust website
