Bishops Knoll Pruning Course

Bishop Knoll wood near Bristol has within its grounds an apple orchard. The trees were in need of a pruning and the Bishops knoll volunteers wanted to make sure that they pruned them correctly. They contacted a local expert Les Davies who agreed to deliver a day’s training for the volunteers.

The day was quite comprehensive, covering the history of the apple tree, its propagation and management. Les demonstrated grafting and budding and how to care for pruning tools, their care and use. The volunteers greatly enjoyed the day, and we’re grateful to Les for his time and expertise. We’re sure the orchard will be looking in tip top condition as a result of the course. The latest newsletter for the Bishops Knoll Wood volunteers is attached for those that are interested.
